It is with unspeakable pleasure that we unanimously accept you, (your name here)
The honorable title of United Bastard is officially bestowed upon you this day, December 13, 2007, along with all rights, privileges and abuses contained therein.
Now, let the hazing begin!
As your first task, you must provide a list of your top ten - no 15 - favorite power pop tunes of all time. We all had to do it. Here's the founding members' lists, and here's Lurker's.
Also, we decree that you must complete your Blogger profile no later than one week after induction, and that you further must use this avatar for no less than three months.

Ha! This brings back memories! Looking forward to Andy's list.
Excellent choices, chaps, and what a great trip down memory lane (a.k.a. YouTube). I found it hard to resist borrowing a lot of your selections, and as a result may have erred too far in the other direction. In approximate temporal order:
1. Jimmy Jimmy: The Undertones
2. Ever Fallen in Love: Buzzcocks
3. Call Me: Blondie
4. Jessie’s Girl: Rick Springfield
5. Going Underground: The Jam
6. I Love Rock & Roll: Joan Jett
7. Our Lips Are Sealed: The Go-Go’s
8. Could You Be the One?: Husker Du
9. Annie: Elastica
10. Caught by the Fuzz: Supergrass
11. Dreaming of You: The Coral
12. Can’t Stand Me Now: The Libertines
13. Fell in Love with a Girl: White Stripes
14. Dark of the Matinee: Franz Ferdinand
15. I bet that you look good on the dance floor: Arctic Monkeys
If I remember correctly, Lurker didn't actually have to use the pink boots, it was just a threat in the event that he didn't come up with an Avatar.
That's a nice list. I LOVE Supergrass. Is it me, or did the Libertines never make it overhere? Except as tabloid fodder, of course. And I remember Jeff Tweedy in an interview saying how anyone who liked one of the Babyshambles disc and was over 25 was somehow either stupid or lying. That's paraphrasing, of course.
Excellent list, especially the Buzzcocks, Arctic Monkeys, Supergrass and Huskers. I bought the Arctic Monkeys amidst all the initial hype and found it to be OK. Now, however, I officially LOVE it. I'll put Supergrass' last album up at the Franking Temporarily Permitted.
You are indeed one us! Great list, and good call on the forgotten Rick Springfield. (Likewise on the Blondie and Go-Gos.) Our lists always send me diving feverishly back into my old CDs.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I've never listened to ANY Libertines. But I'm willing ...
Thanks for the Supergrass, Mr. 1/16!
Oh yeah, Andy's officially IN now! Ditch the boots and get a real avatar.
I LOVE Dark of the Matinee and put it on a CD for a friend in Paris. He loved it to, but for years thought it was "Dork of the Matinee," which he incidentally was.
Supergrass 'Life on Other Planets' (from 2002; not sure if they have one after that) is now on the Flashy Tramp Pulverizer. Live with this one for a week or so and you won't get any of it out of yer noggin.
What would really make me think Andrew was cool was if he learned how to Fudgie Tudgie Pudgie and posted one or two of his good Anglo-pawp that we loathsome Continentals missed out on. Like the Undertones, and Elastica and Oasis and all that.
Lest you think Joe is begging, Andy, I should explain that we sort of play Go Fish with the tunes. So feel free to ask for anything.
OK Chaps, my grand experiment with Frankly Terrific Portals has begun. As far as I can tell I managed to put a couple of tunes in a new folder. Let me know if it worked, and I can add more upon request.
By the way, links to a couple of the tunes I don't seem to have as MP3s are below:
Jimmy Jimmy (not to knock Teenage Kicks by any means, lest John Peel rise from the grave and smite me, but I'll always have a soft spot for poor little Jimmy)

Dreaming of You. Another near-perfect pop song.

And finally, it doesn't get any better than this:

Sweet, sweet success Andy! I'm listening to "Can't Stand Me Now" ... now, and I have a greater understanding for why everyone puts up with Pete Doherty's bullshit.
Thank you, sir.
Have you, by any chance, seen the documentary about The Undertones? If you have, is it any good?
