Shit

Davy Jones! Favorite Monkees song anyone? Mine is "You Just May Be The One."

Regular Show

If I could explain why this makes me laugh so hard, I would.

The characters:

Mordecai
A 23-year-old blue jay, who is best friends with Rigby. Together, Mordecai and Rigby are employed as groundskeepers at a park, but they are both lazy and rarely get their jobs done. Mordecai is more conscientious, mature and moral about his actions, but he tends to go along with Rigby's mischief as a result of rivalry. He can also get jealous at times, causing him to get angry. He once killed Rigby, but wished him back. Mordecai enjoys playing "punchies" against Rigby, knowing Rigby always loses. Mordecai has a major crush on Margaret, a red-breasted robin and waitress at the local café. He is an art school graduate. He was originally in the short film 2 in the AM PM, which was also created by Quintel.

Rigby
A 23-year-old raccoon, who is best friends with Mordecai. Rigby is eccentric, immature, and extremely mischievous, which puts him at odds with Mordecai at times. Rigby lives solely for self-gratification, which he sometimes achieves through selfish acts of lying or cheating; but consequentially, Rigby has a bad habit of getting himself and other people in trouble. In fact, many of the problems that the park employees face appear to be (mostly) Rigby's fault. Nevertheless, he is best friends with Mordecai and often relies on him for getting himself out of trouble, though there have been times where he's saved Mordecai. He has a younger brother named Don who he is jealous of due to people often mistaking him for the older brother due to Don being taller and larger. He was killed (and later revived) three times in Season 2, once by Mordecai, another time by Snowballs the Ice Monster, and once by Skips.

Mitch "Muscle Man" Sorenstein
Another groundskeeper at the park. Mitch Sorenstein (better known by his nickname "Muscle Man") is an obese, dwarfish, green-skinned man (ironic given his nickname). His behavior seems quite erratic and immature. Muscle Man believes himself to be macho and superior to everyone, constantly disrespecting Mordecai and Rigby and referring to them as "ladies". He is always cracking "My mom!" jokes (botched attempts at "Your mom!" jokes), much to the chagrin of everyone else (except his best friend High Five Ghost, who enjoys them). In the episode "Muscle Woman", his real name is revealed to be Mitch Sorenstein.

Twenty Years

Some of us may remember Sean Lee. Some of us may not. Regardless, this is his latest single, Twenty Years.

And the music that's coming from my house tonight is..

The lead singer of The Format has formed a new band.  Very poppy, if you like that sort of thing.  (I like that sort of thing.)

It's A Classic

A classic, I tell ya!

Jonathan Ames

Bored to Death creator Jonathan Ames delivers a drunken awards presentation. Stick around after the acceptance speech for more classic rambling. This is what we imagine we're all like when we're drunk, isn't it?

Got Your Festival Right Here

You won't catch me at local happening Bonnaroo - see this year's lineup - because that's just kinda not my thing. [No offense to any dirty hippies out there]. But with Head of Radio on the bill, I'm sure it's pulling one bastard strongly.

Shit

The A.V. Club reports:
The comics artist John Severin, who died earlier this week at the age of 90, was one of the last living, working links to the golden age of pre-Code comic books, as exemplified by Harvey Kurtzman's Mad and the other output from the EC Comics line. Severin was one of the principal artists on Mad and Kurtzman's war comics, Frontline Combat and Two-Fisted Tales. Early in his career, Severin became renowned for his careful attention to detail, evident especially in his work on those historically minded, tragedy-laced war comics. His style was less broadly cartoonish and more naturalistic than the other major contributors to Mad (Will Elder, Wally Wood, Jack Davis, etc.), but in his work there as well, he adapted his skillful draftsmanship and talent for creating sharply defined characters to the title's humorous scripts.

This Could Be Fun

Notice I didn't say good. Tim Burton producing, Timur Bekmambetov directing! Based on the Seth Grahame-Smith book from a couple summers ago.

Shit

Probably not a lot of Whitney Houston music amongst our assembled collections, but this performance used to make me stop and take notice. What a voice. Fucking dope.

Highly Recommended

I've read this through four or five times. Breezy read and chock full of cool info. Laugh out loud funny in the critique of some of the songs. Fall in love with the album all over again. Anyone need a Frequent Therapy Program? If so, I'll take care of it.

Gervais Rules

Here's one of many reasons.

Because George Lucas Doesn't Have Enough of My Money

Who's up for 3D?
I remember going to three or four films in 1999 just so I could see the trailer for Episode I, and ohhhhh the anticipation.
Curiously, Mr. Binks and the Trade Federation Abominations were omitted from the original trailer, as they seem to be again here, for the "new" 3D release out in theaters this week.
This bloggg wasn't even a twinkle in The Founders' collective eye back then, but I bet I would've loved the pre- and post- Episode I commentary.

Shit

Don Cornelius has apparently boarded the great Soul Train in the sky. I used to watch that show every Saturday after cartoons were over. Thus began my journey into funkiness and soul. Anyway, sounds like it was suicide. Sad.
