Chile today . . .

Interesting map renaming each state as a country with a similar GDP. Some of the comparisons seem quite apt culturally as well as economically (South Dakota as frozen, teeth-clenchingly miserable Bulgaria; Florida as leather-skinned, half-witted Australia; Tennessee as heavily-armed theocracy Iran, etc.); others less so. Larger version here.

Hey, I'm in Saudi. Did you forkers know I actually used to live in Bulgaria. The real Bulgaria, not the South Dakotan facsimile.

You lived in about half of those countries, didn't you?

I, on the other hand, never lived in Iran, but I am one heavily-armed theocrat.

The connections are interesting to puzzle over. Like New Zealand is a natural paradise in two islands, while its corresponding state Arkansas is a landlocked shithouse.

I'm detecting some animosity towards the natural state.

I think that is the natural reaction to Arky, but perhaps mine is influenced by the fact that I've had to drive into its heart nearly 200 times in the past 15 years to retrieve my son from the dogpatch side of his family.
