The latest inductees were
named today. Madonna, Mellencamp, the Dave Clark Five, Leonard Cohen, and the Ventures are the main recipients. The Dave Clark Five? Jesus Christ. One big hit and no lasting cultural impact. The rest I'm OK with (full disclosure: I own some Madonna CDs). All of the recipients were also named steroid users and HGH devotees. Oh wait. That was
THIS list!

Easy Dave! According to what appears to be the official band website, DC5 were not only the first British band (ever?) to tour the US, but also the first British band (ever?) to have a private plane, and even had a DC5 logo on the side of said plane. Thus, not only did DC5 spearhead the British invasion, they may have (more importantly) provided the inspiration for the TCB-Flash logo on Elvis's plane. Sounds like HOF material to me.
I consider myself schooled. Still, I think only 3/5 of the Five deserve it. Plus, as a musician, the idea of a lead vocalist drummer is repugnant.
I would also question Madonna's inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Dave. Madonna? Rock 'n' roll? Give me a fucking break.
But then, I would also question the inclusion of Miles Davis and Grandmaster Flash. Innovative? Check. Iconic? You betcha. Rock 'n' roll? Not so much.
I know, I know, it's a slippery slope, but geez ...
Here's my yearly "it really ain't a hall of fame at all it's just a modern music museum" speach:
Ah fuck it, I think I'll just roll my eyes and move on. I'm still peeved it's in flippin Cleveland.
Yeah, totally agree with Madonna being a strange choice. It definitely does start make it into a pop music museum. Pat Benatar would have been a much better choice.
For those that care, the player list from the Mitchell report:

None of us are on there. I already looked.
I FUCKING LOVE Pat Benetar! And let's not forget the the RnRHOF snubbed me not so long ago.
So they suck.
I also FUCKING LOVE Pat Benatar, but that's another story.
