OK, here's my nominee for Best Beginning of Film Ever. I started thinking about this after seeing Iron Man last weekend, which has a terrific beginning. But not better than Trainspotting. Or The Big Chill. Or Raiders of the Lost Ark. What are the best film intros ever?
What's the clip? I liked the really long tracking shot that started 'The Player.' And obviously, the beginning of Private Ryan was something of a milestone.
That is a great intro. I haven't seen that since it came out. Ever read the book, Lurker? It's awesome as well. I got through the whole fucking thing before I figured out there was a glossary in the back. Books make a lot more sense when you can understand what they're saying.

Nice choices, this clip is from Trainspotting. Glad you mentioned that Player start, have to watch that one again.
Boogie Nights had a pretty great intro, subtly introducing all the players. Also an impressive tracking shot, if I'm not mistaken.
And let's not forget Pulp Fiction. "Any of you fucking pigs move, an I'll execute every motherfucking last one of you!"
Pulp Fiction, brilliant.
My favorite intro is Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice and Jay and Mike and Joe. That hot seven way scene is cinema history!!

I picked the book up in a bookstore and realized it would be far less accessible then the movie! Thanks for the tip on the glossary, that would help.
