After the first one in October, Bhutto asked Musharraf for more security and he blew her off. She then asked the U.S. government for more security, and we "didn't want to get involved."
So now we've got all our eggs in the Musharraf basket, and he's becoming increasingly unpopular in Pakistan. Nice.

I know next to nothing about Benazir Bhutto, but I was relieved when she narrowly avoided the last assassination attempt. This just sucks.
According to NPR, she was likely targeted by Islamic militants because of her close ties to the United States and her support of the war on terror.
I think it was mostly because she was female and dared to come out of exile. But that's just me.
