Who else had one of these?

Hell, that kid might BE me. I used to love Evel Knievel. I remember watching his stunts on TV, including the infamous Snake River Jump. We had inflated the event to 'jumping the Grand Canyon in a rocket ship' on my block, but it was riveting just the same.

Evidently ol' Evel died today. His website crashed when I went to look for info, but if its true, RIP daredevil.

I did! Loved that thing and even remember that kid in the picture from the commercial (at least I think). I remember the sound it made in perfect detail.

Mine didn't stay pretty and white like that for very long. When I think back on mine, I picture it a dirty gray.

Wow. That's rough. I really idolized Evel, and that was one of the toys that stands out as being one that I wore out. I remember the Snake River jump and how disappointing it all was in the end. I mean, I didn't even think of the possibility of him having a parachute.

He was a badass, though -- next time you're next to a motorcycle, think about hopping on it and taking a skip over a dozen cars, or maybe a bus or two. Then imagine it's the sixties.

My grandfather bought me one when I went to visit. Cool stuff.

The toy Evel was bendy, much as the real Evel probably was after a few wipeouts.
