You Knew I Was Gonna

"Sky Blue Sky" on "Fly to Pie"

For once I agree with Pitchfork:
Charged up and bursting with eccentric and experimental talent, Wilco Mk. 5 seemed poised to generate the band's finest-- or at least most interesting-- music yet. Instead, it produced Sky Blue Sky.

I just bought this for the trip back from Baltimore. On the fence still, but there are some quite good songs (2nd song stick out to me) and some deeply eccentric guitar work here and there. Fairly sedate though.

I'm warming up to it. It sounds better loud.

So how was Baltimore? I have some friends here who lived downtown there and really liked it.

Thanks nonetheless.

So, how WAS Baltimore?

Baltimore was excellent. It had the advantage of the unknown, and it reflected itself very well. Great bars, great neighborhoods, lots to do, closer to Caroline's parents, close to New York, DC, and Philly, and affordable (in a comparative way). Downside: we're teachers, and as usual, the schools suck. But we'll see. One place, The Brewers Art, specialized in Belgian microbrews they made on site. Absolutely fantastic. We ate at an Afghan restaurant and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Didn't see anyone as charming as Jay though.
