Mankind's biggest hangup about religion is that if there is no supreme deity, none of us are special. We're just organisms. Personally, I have no problem with that idea. And, if I'm going to worship anything, it's Jay.
If that's the first hangup, Dave, then the second is that our time on earth is all we have. Death scares the shit out of a lot of people, and they need to believe that we'll just keep on going forever.
Having recently finished Vonnegut's Sirens Of Titan, I've decided to join the Church of God the Utterly Indifferent.

Although the Bastardos are not allowed to officially endorse any particular religion, it is well known that many of its members are Jayists.
