Can we please have some sanity, please?

You must've heard of the Vanessa Hudgens affair--the Hight School Musical star whose nude photo, made for her boyfriend got picked up by the internets. My interest in this was originally simply voyeuristic, but has turned to indignant. What is wrong with this country? Why is this scorching the headlines, causing corporate angst and generating such scandal? I mean, she's not humping a corpse or blowing a horse, she's just standing naked and beautiful in a photo intended for 1 set of eyes. Why does this backwards, puritanical nation flip out over nudity? There's massive speculation about whether or not Disney will fire her, whether her career is over, etc. It's ridiculous! She wasn't smart to do this, obviously, but who didn't make enormously erroneous judgments when they were 19?

Dear God, we simply must take this country back from the neo-inquisition.

Well, as they say, no publicity is bad publicity, so it's probably not the end of her world. Maybe the flappers are just jealous that their girlfriends never sent them nude photos. Or weren't that hot.

And for those of us with daughters, rule #1 will always be, DO NOT let any boys take naked pictures of you, no matter who they are or how much you think they can be trusted. #1 rule for boys...make sure you have your camera properly set up to deal with the poor lighting conditions found in most bedrooms.

Ha ha, Joe. Ha ha.

I've never understood the big deal about nudity in this country either, but you have to admit nude photos of one of the stars don't exactly promote the wholesome image that Disney wants, needs, and demands for High School Musical. Anytime money stands to be lost by a publicly owned company, the suits start sweating. Unfortunately, having worked for you-know-who for so long, I have developed a small dollop of corporate empathy. God help Vanessa Hudgens, and God help me.

She doesn't need as much help as you. I guess it comes down to judgement (something 18 year olds aren't renowned for). In this modern age, with the internets, celebrity sex scandals, 'gotcha' crotch photos, etc., you'd have to be particularly dense to take such a picture. Even IF you trust someone, and they ARE trustworthy, hacking, theft, and carelessness can lead to exactly what has happened here.

The tramp!

More from TMZ

"This past week's nude photo scandal isn't the first for "High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens, say some sources.

A source close to Hudgens told People that two years ago, before she was famous, Hudgens emailed suggestive pix of herself to Nickelodeon star Drake Bell -- star of the "Drake and Josh" show. No word on if she rang his bell.

A rep for Drake says he never received the alleged sexy shots."

Oh, come on! Who among us hasn't sent suggestive photos to Drake Bell?

This is a priceless string, from Joe's rules to Drake Bell. Your corporate sympathizing point is a good one, Disney has its rep to worry about. One bimbo with more tits than brains isn't worth alienating a crowd they've spent billions to attract.

Dave said...

Yeah, and that's saying something because her tits aren't even that big. Or so I've heard. From Joe.

Hey, if you're tired of looking at her picture, we could probably find some more dandies of Shane MacGowan.

Jay said...

No, no, that's okay.

My little sister e-mailed me a picture of her brother-in-law's finger after he slammed it in a door, removing the top 1/4 of it. I could post that if anybody wants.

I think you should post the picture you sent me a few years back of the motorcycle wreck victim's destroyed face.

(That would be a worthy addition to any weight loss program ...)
