No, but I feel like I should be watching. And I kept wondering when you would update us on its awesomeness or lack thereof.
Also, the Bastardate should totally have a Lost Weekend tradition: Motivated Bastard suggests some televisual/filmic/whatever series that we all need to sit down and watch in entirety over the course of a long weekend. Probably at Dave's new house to start.
I have been watching it, though it's been sporadic the last couple of weeks. For awhile I felt like it was getting a bit stretched with all the characters, but (kind of spoiler alert), with a lot of the storylines coming together, and a lot of characters getting eaten by walkers/geeks/zombies, it's gotten tighter.
Well, the pilot (directed by Frank Darabont) was a solid A. The rest of the season has ranged from A- to B material with a few cringe-worthy lines sprinkled here and there. (And a few plot holes, but those are easily forgiven, as far as I'm concerned.)
In its favor, there's lots of zombies and gore, good to great acting, tight pacing, and time is taken for character development. Also, it's shot on 16mm film, so it's beautiful.
If you've missed it, the good news is that there are only six episodes this first season; you can bet your ass AMC will play the shit out of those between now and next season, so you've got plenty of time to catch up.
I know nothing about the comic, but I'm enjoying the show and heartily endorse it. Each week I'm entertained and left looking forward to the next episode.

Excellent plan. I have all of the Walking Dead episodes so far saved on the DVR and will hopefully be having a mini-marathon soon.
