As long as we're playing "What I Got for Christmas," here's the MSP's '09 release Journal for Plague Lovers. It made
Metacritic's best of the year list. It's been compared, inevitably, to The Holy Bible (the album, not the holy writ), since it features lyrics of the late(?) Richey James Edwards. I don't hear anything in it that's nearly as dark, but there are some nice hooks in the middle tracks.

Thanks, Mike! Holy Bible's nightmarish lyrics really put me off Manic Street Preachers, but I'll give this one a spin anyway.
Thanks to whoever shared the Al Green!
Thanks, Lurker. I really liked Holy Bible. Looking forward to digging into this one.
I put up the Al Green when I was intending to put up a post about Willie Mitchell and got sidetracked. The version on Call Me has Lyle Lovett singing on it...
I'm liking this one better. Probably because I didn't consult the lyric sheet.
I like it. I like it a lot.
