Meet our soon-to-be new family member, Lamar. He's a five-year-old retired racing greyhound that we're going to pick up tomorrow morning. It's a common misconception that retired greyhounds need lots of exercise. In fact, a walk or two a day is all they require.
If you want, you can check out Lamar's (aka Jacobi) racing stats
here. Out of 79 races, he had 22 wins and 14 seconds.
Wish us luck.

Yes! Good on you guys. My friend Christine from Minneapolis has made a long term commitment to fostering greyhounds. If you have any questions or want any other info, let me know and I'll put you in touch.
Thanks! I've been reading books like a madman, but I'm sure I'll have more questions as we wade into this experience.
That's an impressive record. I'm sure he'll be a great addition to the family. I can't wait to see his going to fetch the paper times.
Happy to see there's at least one winner in the Hines household.
Har.
He's getting settled in pretty well. Today is the big test. We started running errands and leaving him alone the day we brought him home (little ten or fifteen minute jaunts), but today is the first time he'll be alone for four hours.
He's a real sweetheart, though, and the kids absolutely LOVE him.
On the downside, I will be unable to blame my farts on the dog, as his bring tears to our eyes ...
Sounds like he's already one of the family.
Anybody still breathing after pissing on $600 silk curtains is officially a family member ...
So does that mean I'm.. ah, wait no, silk curtains, not the velvet ones. Never mind.
I forgave you a long time ago for that ...
