I'll always bite on a Tim Burton film, but I think he's at his best when working with original material. He has so much affection for his boyhood idols, he gets caught Taratino-like between homage and throwing his own ideas onto the screen, so you end up with Ed Wood instead of Ed Scissorhands.
Did you not like Ed Wood, Lurker? That's probably in my top 2 or 3 favorite from Burton. I'm not sure about this one, but I don't manage to miss many of his movies, so I'll probably go.
Ed Wood goes on the less-favored list for me, but maybe I should check it out again. I tend to at least like anything he's done. Didn't like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory though. Was 9 any good?
sorry J to the Ay -- the irony-free zone surrounding many people's noggins during election years must be contagious and affecting me. Usually I detect microscopic levels of sarcasm.
I love Ed Wood - possibly my favorite Burton film - but also Ed Scissors, Pee-Wee, Nightmare and Batman, which was great fun when it came out. Corpse Bride I need to watch again. "9" was cool but I don't consider it a Burton film cause he was just a producer.
Still damn fine Burton cinema to me were Sleepy Hollow, Alice, and Beetlejuice. And I liked Charlie and Sweeney Todd o.k.
Planet of the Apes, Batman Returns and Mars Attacks I probably wouldn't sit through again.
I never saw Big Fish.
And everything he makes is still better than watching Michael Bay.
I loved Big Fish, once I got past the Brit actors hacking up southern accents. I'll have to see Ed Wood again. I wasn't a big fan of P of the Apes, Mars or Charlie.
Did y'all know that the barefooted banjo player in Big Fish was the kid (Billy Redden) playing the banjo in Deliverance? It's true, Burton tracked him down in northeast Georgia. Read all about it here.

I think he was a big fan, back in the day. Love to see what Burton could do with an episodic series.
The trailer seems about two shades too campy for Burton - wonder if the film will match.

I got excited when I heard about this, then I saw the trailer and realized it was a comedy. Cautiously optimistic, I am.
