One thing I still remember from reading the article a couple of years ago was a guy sho survived saying that the second he jumped off the bridge he realized that all of his problems in life could be solved except this one.
On a similar note, NPR had a segment this morning on suicide. According to the WHO, it (suicide, not NPR) accounts for half of all violent deaths of those 25 and under, and in 2000, there were an estimated 1,000,000 suicides globally. That's approximately one every 40 seconds.
