The Force Is Strong With This One...
As I recall, we have some bastards with connections to the Northwest. Perhaps they can explain how the sith lord could find the time to learn to play the flaming bagpipes and unicycle all while laying down the moves on Natalie Portman. And since when did he move to Portland...

Suggested Reading for Bastards at the Beach
"The story, in short," Ellison concluded, "spanned all of time and all of space, with a moral and ethical problem." According to Ellison, the assembled executives, including Roddenberry, listened intently, before Barry Trabulus mentioned that he had been reading Erich von Daniken's Chariots of the Gods, and wondered whether the Mayan civilization might be included. Ellison pointed out that there were no Mayans at the dawn of time, to which Trabulus rejoined that no one would know the difference. "I'm going to know the difference," Ellison exploded. "So Trabulus got very uptight and said he liked Mayans a lot and why didn't I do it if I wanted to write this picture." Ellison said. "So I said, 'I'm a writer. I don't know what the fuck you are!' And I got up and walked out. And that was the end of my association with the Star Trek movie."
Currently enjoying this volume. The chapter on Watchmen is lovely.

Pinellas Park, Florida
Is where I saw Devo. And I can't think of a more appropriate place to see them. I have to agree with Jay that Devo can still bring it. I highly recommend chasing them down. Blondie opened. Seemed good at the time, but I didn't think about them much after Devo. Sorry, Dave.
Oh! I also got to see Matthew Sweet do Girlfriend in Madison. He sounded great. Hope he gets out and does the new album now.

Have you seen it?

This was a really terrific blend of sci fi and thought provoking social commentary. It's nice to see a summer spectacle with a lot of heart and brains. The lead actor is making his screen debut and he is fantastic. On another film note, I think the positive critical reaction has changed my mind about seeing the Tarantino flick too.

I Want To See This
It's been a slow summer for must-see movies, but I do want to catch this one in the theater.
