What should I read of his?

I can't help you, Mike, as I've not read anything of his. At least besides the opening and closing scrolls of Twilight Zone. But he seems like he oughtta be one of my heroes.

And to tack on tardy commentary to another Jay post, I just realized I've never read anything by Stephen King.
No novels anyway. I read what he said about Harry Potter vs. Twilight--

"Harry Potter is all about confronting fears, finding inner strength, and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend."

Also got throught all twenty of King's fine quotations in 20 quotes on writing.
I've seen Carrie, The Shining, Misery, The Shawshank Redemption... and really enjoy the phrase "needful things". So I must be a fan. Right?

What were we talking about?

After posting this, I just read that Stephen King cited Matheson as his greatest influence as a writer.

Hmmm. A good point of entry for Matheson is I Am Legend.

A good point of entry for King is The Shining or maybe Salem's Lot.

I love SK's Harry Potter vs. Twilight quote!

I've barely dabbled in SK. As a Faulkner character once said of Shakespeare, "I just can't read him, he talks too much!"
