Fascinating
Here's a 1986 BBC documentary examining the discovery of LSD and its similarity to mescaline. For some inexplicable reason, it plays twice. It's really only 39 minutes long, but if you can only watch part of it, skip to around the 20 minute mark. In 1955, under the guidance of his friend Dr. Humphrey Osmond, British politician Christopher Mayhew ingested 400 mg of mescaline hydrochloride. The entire experience was filmed for a television series called Panorama but never aired. Mayhew's description of how he experienced the passage of time is pretty fucking cool.

I didn't know Huxley had experimented with mescaline.
The time passage thing was very interesting.
