I guess I should be more patient with an artiste, but to me this just sounds like some asshole who didn't earn a cent of interest on his savings balance demanding to know what % of one cent he earned.

But his larger point is, if they're screwing me over nothing, how hard are they screwing the big-time recouped bands?

How fucked is it that a label makes a band pay back the advance from the band's tiny portion of sales? You can be making money for the label - covering the advance, and then some - but still be in the red for a long, long time.
