And before I forget...
You know who is great? Bruno Mars. Fantastic songwriting and a very engaging vocalist. I know most of you idiots don't really dig modern pop music, but stop yer hating and Feel This Prophecy: you will dig this album.

Week Six Weigh In
187.8, a one week loss of 1.2 pounds.
Total weight lost so far, 7.6 pounds.
Somehow managed to lift weights four days this week. Pants are considerably looser than when I started. In fact, I'm wearing my belt one notch tighter, too ...
Bring it, Dave!

Week Three Weigh In
190.4, a one week loss of 1.6 pounds.
Total weight lost so far, 5 pounds.
My first weigh in was a baseline and not really the first week, so I've adjusted weeks accordingly. I don't feel like I've really sacrificed by reducing my intake of the bad stuff. If anything, it makes me appreciate it more when I do partake.

A Modest Proposal
The scale says 195.4 pounds, about 15 more than I'd like. Losing one or two pounds a week, making healthy, permanent lifestyle changes is the way to go.
Here's my simple plan:
- Drink black coffee at home. (I already do at work.)
- Eat a healthier breakfast. No more PopTarts and muffins. Half a cup of oatmeal, handful of raisins (or chopped up banana), handful of almonds, cinnamon.
- Eat a healthier lunch. I take my lunch to work four days a week, so that should be easy. Turkey sandwich on wheat bread (no cheese), pretzels, fruit.
- No more snacking after dinner.
- No drinking during the week. A beer or two every night is killing me.
- I'll pay more attention to portion sizes.
- I'll work out at least three times a week, but hopefully four.

Impressive

From Edge, the Adobe newsletter:
This impressive promotional site for the world's first cinematic proportion TV is immediately intriguing because users feel like they have been dropped into the middle of a major incident. With "baddies" dressed as clowns and police everywhere, the deliberately slow-moving video experience has numerous hotspots that take the experience to another level. Take a moment to explore everything. You won't be disappointed.Make sure to click the three vertical blue bars in the time line. Check it out here.
Did I mention it's done in Flash?

10 For 10

I saw this with da kids yesterday, in 3-D no less! Spot-on as usual, heartwarming and hilarious. If you don't choke up at least once in this movie, you have no soul. (And I must say, the house-as-emotional-baggage metaphor is fucking sublime.)
As most people know, Pixar movies are rotten with Easter eggs. Here's a bunch from Up. There are some spoilers, though; if you haven't seen the movie, don't click 'til you have.

Until You Find The Graphic Novel ...

In an apparent attempt to get everyone up to speed before March '09, Warner Brothers recently unveiled the premiere episode of Watchmen Motion Comics. I think you'll need the QuickTime Player, but I'm not positive. I'd wait until at least 1:30 CDT to attempt a download, this is taking forever. (It was either this or iTunes, and I know you Luddites too well.)

Jonesy's Jukebox And Another Related Find

I swear this is my last post for today. Feast or famine, fellow bastards! Indie 103.1 is now streaming Steve Jones's radio shows (Jonesy's Jukebox), going to back to January of this year. The really cool thing is, they're including the music he plays. (They weren't able to that on a limited run podcast a couple of years back.)
Also, while looking for photos of Steve Jones, I found Brad Elterman's site. He photographed many pop culture icons of the 70's and 80's, including, but not limited to, Phil Spector, Robert Plant, Iggy Pop, and some dude named Mothersbaugh. Definitely worth a look.

Hellboy II

I remember enjoying the first installment of Hellboy. Good action, some memorable lines and Selma Blair. I was pleasantly surprised to see there's a coming sequel. Should be an ideal date-night movie for you married blokes. Chicks dig comic book movies.
