Sharktroversy...

Shark Week on the Discovery channel pretty much blows. Turns out they faked a whole show. Sensationalized bullshit. This from the network that has a show about fishing with vaginas. Did you hear what I said? Fishing. With. Vagina. Setting my DVR. On a more positive note, Nat Geo Wild is doing shark week right.

Week Three Weigh In

190.4, a one week loss of 1.6 pounds.

Total weight lost so far, 5 pounds.

My first weigh in was a baseline and not really the first week, so I've adjusted weeks accordingly. I don't feel like I've really sacrificed by reducing my intake of the bad stuff. If anything, it makes me appreciate it more when I do partake.

Popes Are Back?

Somehow, Smoking Popes snuck one past us in the summer of 2008. Guess Josh Caterer likes eating more than he likes Jesus.

Full Trumps Piety.

And if any of you bastards has $7.99 burning a hole, there's It's Been A Long Day, capturing the Popes during their formative years. Just came out on the 16th!

"Let's take your sister's clothes off and hide them!"

This Joe Strummer doc has been out for a while. Looks like you can watch the whole thing on YouTube. Anyone seen it? Metacritic has nice things to say about it.

Catchy Friday

As the story goes, Terry Hall and Jane Weidlin had a whirlwind romance when the Go-Go's went across the pond in 1980. He sent her these lyrics later, and she wrote the song. I'll bet you've never heard this version ...

Here's One For Dave

How 'bout the first ten issues (so far) of Alpha Flight on John Byrne's own forum? Now I don't have to dig out my old copies to relive my junior high geekiness. As a bonus, Byrne frequently posts comments with humorous stories or bits of trivia.

Speaking Of Radiohead ...

This snippet from a recent Radiohead webcast demonstrates the band's sense of humor. The song is "15 Step," the first on In Rainbows.

15 Step

How come I end up where I started
How come I end up where I went wrong
Won't take my eyes off the ball again
You reel me out then you cut the string

How come I end up where I started
How come I end up where I went wrong
Won't take my eyes off the ball again
You reel me out then you cut the string

You used to be alright
What happened?
Did the cat get your tongue
Did your string come undone
One by one
One by one
It comes to us all
It's as soft as your pillow

You used to be alright
What happened?
Etcetera etcetera
Facts for whatever
Fifteen steps
Then a shear drop
