A promo poster for Marvel's The Avengers was spotted at the Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas. (Whatever the hell that is.) The Avengers comes out next May.
I thought Spiderman III was overrun by Sand Guy, Alter-Ego Evil Spider, Goblin Jr... can't we cap the protagonist-antagonist count somewhere near 2 and leave it?
I dunno, it's going to be interesting. I'm encouraged that The Avengers is being written and directed by Joss Whedon, though. I've always heard that Spiderman III was ruined by studio interference, for what it's worth.
Good point, Eric, remember Batman and Robin? More heroes and villains than the WWF. The Whedon angle is at least a reason to hope it can be pulled off, but it just looks too top-heavy.

That Avenger with the hammer looks like he needs to come out.
Mo heros, mo problems.

Also I don't mean to ever protest gratuitous use of hottie-in-latex characters in these films [e.g. Scarlett Johansson in Ironman 2.]
Who is going to play the Hulk, and who is the guy with the bow and arrow next to the Hulk in the poster?
Mark Ruffalo is playing Banner/Hulk and Jeremy Renner is playing Hawkeye, the bow-and-arrow dude.
Batman and Robin was fucked up by Joel Schumacher, but it definitely suffered from sequel-itis. More, more, more!
Hawkeye's got that "why didn't I get my own movie?" smirk.
