Not sure how many of you bastards know this, but Robert Zemeckis shot Back To The Future for five weeks with Eric Stotlz playing Marty McFly. Stotlz didn't work out and they basically started over, but these clips of the original footage are fascinating ...
That's like Harvey Keitel in Apocalypse Now. Coppola started shooting with him as Williard before pulling the plug and finding Martin Sheen. I did like Stoltz in Pulp Fiction, though.

Stoltz was really funny in Pulp Fiction. I think he was just young and going for the wrong vibe on BttF.
He was doing stunned bewilderment and they wanted a broader, goggle-eyed freak-out.
