Wise Up Ghost

Ok fellas, it's here. And it's good. It's really, really good. Now I know that all of you guys are white as hell, and you're definition of funk usually involves the terms 'vanilla' and 'ice', but I think you will dig what's happening here. For This Project, there's the album, Wise Up Ghost, and a live show from last fucking night in Brooklyn, which I've dubbed Brooklyn Bowl since they played at a bowling alley. At the live show, there are also Rootsified versions of Costello classics like 'Spooky Girlfriend', 'I Want You', 'Chelsea', and 'Watching the Detectives'. All fantastic. Favorite tracks so far: 'Tripwire', 'Cinco Minutos Con Vos', 'Sugar Won't Work', and the title track. Get ya some!

Bastard Field Trip!

It's the event Joe's been waiting for his entire life: the ABBA Museum is finally OPEN.

And before you laugh, just remember that members of both Elvis Costello & The Attractions and The Sex Pistols have admitted to ripping them off.

I see your Shoes and raise you a Kaiser Chiefs..

I am totally loving the '05 Kaiser Chiefs album Employment at the moment.  I wonder if any of you have a Friend To Play it for you?

Cohen Live in London

Fresh off the show I saw in Durham, I thought I could interest you guys in this. Feel the Presence. Cohen's already excellent lyrics have taken on additional gravitas with age. This is pretty close to the show I saw, except that he played Famous Blue Raincoat and didn't play Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye.

Tom Waits live in Atlanta

For The Particular Tom Waits fan, you might enjoy NPR's offering of a complete concert from July in Atlanta. I have friends who went to this and raved, and listening to it now, I can understand why. Its a different band then when I saw him at the Ryman a couple of summers ago, and I like 'em better. Flick Topmost Patterns. PS: Sorry there's no song breaks- you gotta do the whole thing.
