Biophilia
No idea if we have any Bjorkologists among the greater bastardate, but her latest album is not so much an album as an experience. It's all gettin' your interactive on & shit. Biophilia for iPad has apps for each song; you can explore the themes and create your own version. The "ultimate" edition includes a wooden box with ten chromed tuning forks, each one adjusted to the tone of a single album track. My affinity for Bjork extends mostly to the film "Dancer in the Dark" (she was fantastic) and a lingering desire to imitate her distinctive voice - it would be such a good go-to impersonation, you know? I don't know a single song of hers.
Anyway, one of you iPad-havin' bastards please review this album and get back to us, and Heavy D make sure your next album includes all the internets and twitter and Tesla coils and tuning forks and such.

She Walks The Night
Our good friend Matthew Sweet has a new album, Modern Art, coming out on September 27th and will evidently tour for the 20th (!) anniversary of Girlfriend, playing the album in its entirety as so many touring bands seem to be doing these days. I don't see a lot of dates on his site yet, but we'll keep an eye out. Listen to the delicious first single, She Walks The Night, and read more here.
That is all.

I Love Shit Like This

This is a scene from 2006's Children of Men. According to fxguide, the shot is a composite of London's Battersea power station and a bridge located over the M3 in Surry, but check out the Pink Floyd homage that you might have missed. Click to embiggen and look between the two chimneys on the right.

An Audience Of Five (Or Six)

From Slashdot:
"Douglas Quenqua reports in the NY Times that according to a 2008 survey only 7.4 million out of the 133 million blogs the company tracks had been updated in the past 120 days meaning that "95 percent of blogs being essentially abandoned, left to lie fallow on the Web, where they become public remnants of a dream — or at least an ambition — unfulfilled." Richard Jalichandra, chief executive of Technorati, said that at any given time there are 7 million to 10 million active blogs on the Internet, but it's probably between 50,000 and 100,000 blogs that are generating most of the page views. "There's a joke within the blogging community that most blogs have an audience of one." Many people who think blogging is a fast path to financial independence also find themselves discouraged. "I did some Craigslist postings to advertise it, and I very quickly got an audience of about 50,000 viewers a month," says Matt Goodman, an advertising executive in Atlanta who had no trouble attracting an audience to his site, Things My Dog Ate, leading to some small advertising deals. "I think I made about $20 from readers clicking on the ads.""Contributing to our longevity, I think, is the fact that we never had dreams or ambitions.

Catchy Friday
In my continued attempts to force this band down your throats, here are the Last Shadow Puppets with a very cool retro video for 'Standing Next to Me'. 2.21 of pure harmonic bliss.
