Anything going on tomorrow?

Happy Election Day bastards! We have the day off from school so we'll be voting and having red and blue cocktails afterward. Our special Election Night meal will consist of chicken wings (left wings and right wings) and some of Obama's favorite Chicago chili recipe. Our long national nightmare (the campaign season) is almost over. I know Bastard Matt voted early- any of you others do so?

Vote Metal

The Awl (whatever that is) has a list of members of congress with totally metal names. Topping the list: Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY). I guess John Boehner would've made the list if it was totally porn star names.

Who Is John galt? Who Is Interested in This Movie?

I've been chipping away at this book for a few months. Anyone read it? Anyone interested in this flick. It's theme seems pretty relevant these days.

State of the Web

Tonight is the night for the state of the union address, but I thought a state of the web address might be more interesting than watching a bunch of idiots stand up and applaud at the end of ever sentence. Click on this link for the state of the web

America Speaking Out

A new site introduced by the Republican Party is called America Speaking Out, which is designed to...well, I'll let them tell it:
This site was developed as part of an official effort to increase the dialogue between Americans and their Congress. Here, Americans are provided a new platform to share their priorities and ideas for a national policy agenda. As Republicans, we are committed to our principles of limited, more accountable government; economic freedom; lower taxes; fiscal responsibility; protecting life, American values, and the Constitution; and providing for strong national security. This is an open forum, however, where all Americans are welcome to respectfully offer their opinions, regardless of party affiliation and whether we endorse them or not. It is our hope the active engagement of the American people will produce a robust debate that will aid in the construction of a new American agenda.

Naturally, this being the innerwebs, and the whole damn thing being unmoderated, it's been usurped by some users that are less than genuine. Especially fun is the "Open Mic" section, with suggestions such as:
Wait for a sign from Gozer the Traveller; he will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldronaii, the Traveller came as a large and moving Torb. Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex Supplicants, they chose a new form for him -- that of a Giant Sloar! Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you.

"We need to force Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse to rewrite the LOST series finale. What is the island? What is the smoke monster made out of? What is the nature of Jacob and Ilana's relationship? Why does Walt have powers? Our country deserves better. "

"The tea party should merge with lemonparty. They share common interests "

and
We ought to do something about all these liberals and socialists and progressives who call Republicans racists and other bad names when you disagree with them. I went to a basketball game the other day, and a lot of people there called me a racist just because I was rooting for the visiting team. What's the problem with wanting the Washington Generals to win. The Harlem Globetrotters are being propped up by their pals in the mainstream media.

Hours of laughs.

Meghan Mccain Rockin' the Cleavage

The would-be president's daughter is miffed at the controversy surrounding her breasty Twitter post.

For my money, it's the first time she's been remotely interesting.

Ha Ha!

CNN reports that "Bush is now more unpopular than Richard Nixon was when he resigned from office during Watergate with a 66 percent disapproval rating."
On the day that President-elect Barack Obama is visiting the White House, a new national poll suggests that the current occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is the most unpopular president since approval ratings were first sought more than six decades ago.

Seventy-six percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Monday disapprove of how President Bush is handling his job.

Elizabeth Dole Hits New Low

I didn't know it was possible to sink this low in a campaign ad. The clip is of Campbell Brown lambasting Dole for sticking by this hunk o' shit, but you have got to check this ad out. It looks like a lampoon, but it just ran on my local station not ten minutes ago. Kay Hagan filed suit against her today, claiming defamation.

Palin's "Going Rogue?"

A recent CNN article suggests that as a McCain victory becomes less and less likely, Sarah Palin has begun looking out for Number One, deliberately going off-message with an eye on 2012. My favorite part of the article?
"Her lack of fundamental understanding of some key issues was dramatic," another McCain source familiar with prepping Palin told CNN, saying it was probably the "hardest" to get her "up to speed than any candidate in history."
