The Easybeats were an Australian band from the 60s who were huge over there, nominal in the UK, and had a big US hit with "Friday On My Mind." The second guy introduced in this clip is one of the guitarists and songwriters, George Young. He is older brother of Malcom and Angus Young, who are, of course, the diminutive guitar combo from AC/DC.
I think the Saints are my favorite Australian band. But the Easybeats are probably held in higher esteem than anyone there - including AC/DC, INXS, etc.

ReplyDeleteGeorge Young and Harry Vanda also produced the first several AC/DC albums before Mutt Lange came on the scene.
ReplyDeleteJudging by all the screaming, The Easybeats must have been Australia's Beatles. Or Stones, maybe.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess you did know...
ReplyDeleteI didn't, but what's new?
ReplyDeleteI didn't either.
